Who Are We?

What is FireSafe Spokane?

The terrain that defines Spokane County is beautiful. It is also prone to wildfire - especially in areas that interface with forestland. Over the past 10 years, wildfires have caused over 27 million dollars in damage in Spokane County. Click here for more Spokane County fire statistics.

During the Firestorm of 1991, 112 families in Spokane County lost their homes. To help avoid another disaster like this, FireSafe Spokane was founded in February of 1998. The organization is dedicated to wildfire prevention education.

The FireSafe Spokane mission statement:

''FireSafe Spokane will work in partnership with the community to create a safer environment through implementing fuel modification and defensible space, which will reduce losses and costs from wildfires."
